Everything about the new Apple Watch Series 7 release

Apple has provided us with four watches in total for the new Series 7. The screen sizes of the watch in the new series are different, with the smaller of the two having a 41” display and the larger boasting a 45” display. The inclusion of the GPS-only version on both the screen sizes and the Cellular+GPS variant is welcome. At a glance, the screen size with those lovely thin bezels is the only change that set the new Series 7 apart from the older ones. And also the colour options offered now, more the merrier!

Now let us dive into all the things included in the new launch of the Apple Watch Series 7 in brief.

New & Bigger Display

The display of the Apple Watch Series 7 has been a topic of discussion for a long time. It is undoubtedly the best screen by Apple on any of their watches yet. The screen features thinner bezels that give the screen a stunning look besides making it more usable. According to Apple, the screen size has increased 20%, and the bezels decreased by 40% compared to the older Apple Watch Series 6. The screen now looks wide and, with the inclusion of an Always-on Retina display, is about 70% brighter than the older iWatches. So, you won’t have to lift or wake the display for the screen to be visible anymore. Although, the figures provided by Apple on the brightness are only applicable indoors. It is yet to see how the screen performs outdoors. The watch is not much more robust with the redesigned front crystal, thicker than the Series 6 and has more robust geometry. The dust resistance of the watch is IP6X certified, and the water-resistance feature of the iWatch remains the same as in the earlier model.

With all these changes on display, the new Apple Watch Series 7 has better usability of the screen in general. You will read from the watch without using your phone, as it can now display 50% more text without frequently scrolling the screen. Also, the inclusion of a full-size QWERTY keyboard makes more sense as the size of the keyboard has also increased with the bigger screen.

The New watchOS 8

The inclusion of the watchOS 8 is another significant change provided on the new Apple Watch Series 7. With this inclusion, other features have been added to the new watch. One of the key features is the updated ultra-wideband functionality similar to that used in the AirTags. It will allow the watch to act as a digital key for unlocking doors at home, office and more. The new OS will also have improved Wallet and the Home app features. The Home app has been redesigned. It is now easier to access HomeKit accessories, scenes, status updates for thermostats, light bulbs, and other devices. The users can now see who is at the door from the watch using the HomeKit-enabled cameras. In addition, there is a simple tap function for Intercom users to contact everyone in the house.

Apple has also added new features regarding fitness with newer exercises like Tai Chi and Pilates. In addition, the new Apple Watch Series 7 also includes the Mindfulness app, known as the Breathe app. The new Mindfulness app provides the user with a new Breathe experience, and a Reflect session added to the new iWatch. Reflect provides users with a significant concept to contemplate, which encourages a good mindset. New animations and meditation tips are also available in the Breathe and Reflect experiences.

Battery & Charging

The new Apple Watch Series 7 has a slightly bigger battery, and wireless charging has been continued from the older model. However, Apple claims that the new Series 7 Watch will charge faster than the previous Apple Watch Series 6 model. According to Apple, the new Apple Watch Series 7 charges up to 33% faster than the previous versions. Nevertheless, the battery life of the new iWatch remains similar to that of the older watch. But due to the faster charging, it will be easier for the user as the charging window of the watch is decreased. In this way, Apple has fulfilled the demand of the users for better battery life without actually providing us with a more significant change in battery size.

The battery life of the Apple Watch Series 7 can also be increased by turning off the Always-on display feature. However, it makes using the device slightly less convenient to use. However, the overall battery and charging performance of the Apple Watch Series 7 has improved compared to the older variant watches. With these upgrades provided to the charging speed, you will no longer need to leave the watch to charge overnight.

Conclusion

These are some of the critical changes made to the new Apple Watch Series 7. Apart from the new hardware changes and the addition of the new features, you get a more colours option on the watch and have a wide range of wrist bands according to your liking. Though there haven’t been any significant changes in the watch’s design, the new Apple Watch Series 7 is undoubtedly a better watch than the Series 6, primarily due to the bigger screen and overall addition of the features.
