Everything to know about the Huawei P50 Line-up

The Huawei P50 lineup has already been released in China and is yet to be released elsewhere. However, the phones are set to release globally sometime in the coming months. We can’t wait for an official announcement. The delay in releasing the Huawei P50 and P50 Pro might result from the chipset shortage. But it won’t be long until the phone’s release as it is expected to release in early 2022, which is upon us.

Price & Release Date

Huawei has consistently delivered excellent smartphones with features that give a run for your money. With the P50 lineup, Huawei might have the P50 for a mid-range phone and the P50 Pro for the high-end sub-flagship phone. The price is also going to be set likewise accordingly. As the devices have already been sold in China, we know the price in Australia. The affordable Huawei P50 might be sold at around $900 for the base model and around $1000 for the top variant. The Huawei P50 Pro might have the base variant available at around $1200 and the top variant for $1600.

These prices depend upon which storage size you go for, which means you won’t miss out on any base variant features compared to the top variant on each model. In addition, both the devices are expected to release together. Huawei had planned to release the phone globally in August, but it was delayed until early 2022. So we might get to purchase the phone in a couple of months.

Body & Display Features

Both the P50 and the P50 series will have a similar design language. Although, the P50 Pro will be more extensive when compared to the P50 by a few inches. The screen size of the P50 Pro is 6.6 inches, and the P50 features a 6.5-inch screen. Both phones have IP68 water and dust resistance and have similar colour schemes. Although the P50 Pro comes with a few more colour options than the P50.
The screen of both devices is OLED, capable of producing 1 billion colours. The screen of the P50 Pro is slightly better as it features a 120Hz refresh rate on its screen, whereas the P50 only has a screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. The Huawei P50 Pro will also have a better screen to body ratio. In contrast, it is the P50 that comes on top when it comes to pixel per inch of the screen, although the P50 Pro has more pixels altogether.

Chipset & Memory

The Huawei P50 Pro is the more powerful phone, and it features a better chipset than the P50. The Huawei P50 Pro has a Kirin 9000 chipset, one of the most powerful chipsets in the market. The P50, however, isn’t slack as it features the powerful Qualcomm SM8350 Snapdragon 888 4G chip. In addition, both the devices run on the same HarmonyOS 2.0 operating system.

Both the devices come with a base memory of 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage capacity in terms of memory. However, the Pro version goes up to the max of 12GB RAM and 512GB storage, whereas the P50 maxes out on 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. Despite the tremendous internal storage capability, the smartphones also come with a card slot that can support up to 256 nano memory cards, which is impressive.

Camera Capability

There are also significant differences in cameras between the two. However, both smartphones have a similar camera layout in the back, although the specifications are different. For example, the Huawei P50 Pro has a quad-camera setup at the back, whereas the P50 has a triple camera setup.

The P50 Pro has 64MP telephoto, 50MP main, 40MP monochrome and 13MP ultra-wide cameras. And the P50 features a 50MP main, 12MP periscope zoom and 12MP ultra-wide cameras.

Both the phones have an impressive camera set up in their classes. The most impressive feature is the Huawei P50 Pro with a 200x digital zoom with the 3.5x optical zoom. The P50 also has a periscope module camera like the P50 Pro but has a better optical zoom capability of 5x optical zoom. The front-facing camera on both phones is the same as a 13 MP camera. The P50 lineup delivers excellent photo and video capabilities, as claimed by the company.

Battery & Charging Capability

Although the P50 lineup smartphones have impressive specs for screens, especially cameras, it doesn’t fare too well in battery capacity. It has a modest battery set up with the P50 with 4100mAh battery and the more significant P50 Pro featuring a slightly bigger 4360mAh battery.

Despite the modest battery size of the devices, the charging of both smartphones is quite impressive, with 66W fast charging. The P50 Pro also features a 50W fast wireless charging. We hope some optimization software features on these devices are going to provide a better battery life.

Huawei is offering a perfect deal with these smartphones. The P50 lineup is sure to be welcomed by a broad audience. The P50 is the perfect mid-range smartphone with unique features, and the P50 Pro is keen on providing performance. There are only a few things not to like about smartphones and a lot to like as Huawei provides a good package with this phone.

These are all things to know about the upcoming Huawei P50 lineup. You can check out our other updates for news regarding the other smartphones. Of course, we are keeping a close eye on the phone’s release date and will keep you updated regarding any news on these fantastic smartphones.
