How to Sanitize your Smartphone without harming it?

As we use our phones all day and take them everywhere we go, they get much exposure to germs and viruses. Therefore, sanitizing your phone is a must. It has never been a more critical issue than now, with the Covid Pandemic persisting among us. However, since most disinfectants are liquid-based, we need to take precautions not to damage our device. As smartphones are quite expensive, be it any Apple iPhones, Samsung Galaxies, or Google Pixels, even OnePlus Phones are pretty pricey. Here is how you can keep your phone clean without causing any harm to the device.

Turn-off your Phone

As the phone runs on electricity and the disinfectant are mostly liquid-based, it is better to turn off the phone. Cutting off the power supply from the device will prevent any accidental damage to the phone. Though the phone is usually water-resistant, the charging port, audio port, and speaker grills are the more vulnerable areas we need to be careful about.

Use Disinfectant Wipes or Spray

Just using a microfiber cloth will not suffice on cleaning the phone thoroughly. It is essential that you use disinfectant wipes or a spray containing at least 70% of isopropyl alcohol. However, do not apply the disinfectant spray directly to the phone. Instead, use a cloth to clean the phone. Also, avoid products with bleach on them as they tend to affect the sensitivity of the screen.

Use Soft Bristles to Clean Muck off the Phone

Dirt from the surroundings, and sweat from our hands tend to stick to the phone's openings, causing muck to form. The dirt will slowly clog up the parts and cause the components to malfunction over time. So using brushes with soft bristles to remove the muck off the phone is a must.

Sanitize the Phone Daily

After properly disinfecting the phone, you can regularly sanitize the surface of the phone. Regular cleaning will prevent muck formation on the phone's opening and prevent hardware malfunctions—however, avoiding soapy products to clean the device. Also, it would be best to avoid paper towels as they tend to cause scratches to your phone surface.

It is recommended to properly disinfect the phone at least two times a week to prevent any bacteria and viruses and keep your phone in its best shape. Using protections accessories like a back cover or screen protectors are also helpful as it is easy to clean them off.
