What to expect from the new OnePlus 10?

Usually, we always get a mid-range T-Series variant of the flagship launched by the OnePlus. Like how we got a OnePlus 8T soon after the release of the OnePlus 8. However, this time around, we won't be getting a OnePlus 9T, a mid-range version of the OnePlus 9. Although, OnePlus did provide us with the OnePlus 9RT for the mid-range variant of the OnePlus 9R last October. Now, there are many rumours that the OnePlus is going to provide us with the flagship. Unfortunately, though, there are only rumours regarding the upcoming device from the company. Therefore, we could soon be introduced with the new flagship OnePlus 10.

There are several reasons why OnePlus made this leap to launch the flagship without launching the affordable variant as it always does. Among all the speculations, the release of its Nord Series could be one of the factors to halt the manufacture of the OnePlus 9T. Also, the ongoing chipset shortage could be why the manufacturer completely halted the production of the new device. Since we didn't get the new Note 21 Series from Samsung this year due to the same reason, OnePlus might have made the same move. Another compelling reason could be the merger between the OnePlus and the Oppo, which could provide us with significant changes on the upcoming OnePlus 10 regarding software.

New Sofware on the upcoming OnePlus 10

OnePlus and Oppo have recently stated that they will unify their codebases. They will combine their OxygenOS and ColorOS software. That implies you'll see this undisclosed software platform on OnePlus and Oppo phones in the future. Combining the two companies might result in an updated operating system for both OnePlus and Oppo smartphones.

By combining the benefits of both, we may be able to produce an even more powerful OS on the upcoming flagship OnePlus 10: the speedy and smooth, burden-free experience of OxygenOS and the reliability and comprehensive functionality of ColorOS. We will also get future software upgrades from the OnePlus 8 to current smartphones. We haven't heard which Oppo products will get the new firmware yet, but we'll keep you updated as we learn more.

Besides the significant changes in the software, there aren't any groundbreaking changes in the upcoming OnePlus 10. However, here are all the things we know about the upcoming device:

Design

In terms of the design, there aren't any rumours suggesting any significant changes or alternating from the previous OnePlus 9 Series. Although there will be some minor brush-up on the phone's hardware, it is not expected that the OnePlus will change its design to anything radical. Although, we are expecting some changes to the design of the camera. According to the speculations, we might get a quad-camera setup from the OnePlus. Apart from that, we expect the OnePlus 10 to have the same conventional look as the previous models.

Cameras

The primary and front selfie cameras are expected to get a spec bump in the upcoming OnePlus 10. The back camera setup is expected to have a quad-camera setup and an excellent camera bump on the back. Although, this conflicts with the other rumour suggesting that the OnePlus ten could have similar camera specs as the OnePlus 9 Pro. However, as per the design leaks, it is evident that we will get some upgrades on the main cameras. The specs of the quad-cameras are yet to come to light. But for now, we know that the optical zoom will get an upgrade from 3.3x to 5x optical zoom.

Screen

We expect to get the same screen size of 6.7 inches as the previous OnePlus 9 Pro. In addition, we expect the screen's pixel density to be the same 1440 x 3216 with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 20:9 aspect ratio. These are pretty decent specs for the screen, and we don't expect the OnePlus to put more thought into the screen specifications.

Since there are already some changes on the phone's camera, the screen shall not take centre stage for the upgrades on the new device. Although, the battery and charging capacity of the phone is expected to get some upgrades.

Battery & Charging

The new OnePlus 10 is said to feature a new 5000mAh battery which is a needed upgrade. Though this is not quite an upgrade from the 4500mAh battery on the OnePlus 9 Pro, the inclusion of 125W charging could make it a worthwhile upgrade in terms of the device's usability. Since there is no significant upgrade done to the device's screen, we can expect the new battery and the charging to provide superb performance and day-long usability as a piece of cake. Though the manufacturer has not confirmed this, some rumours claim the spec figures on the battery and the charging capacity.

These are all the changes that we expect from the OnePlus 10. We are pretty excited about the new OS on the device, among other hardware upgrades. The phone is expected to drop sometime in early 2022. We can't wait for the announcement of the OnePlus 10 series phones, which will unveil if the speculations are true. Anyways we are still keeping an eye on the rumours surrounding the OnePlus 10. So you can follow us for more exciting news regarding the upcoming releases.
